SSAW Manufacturing Process for Hollow Section (219mm – 3,000mm OD):
Raw Material Inspection (Coil): Incoming hot-rolled steel coils are verified for chemical composition, mechanical properties, and surface quality against EN 10219 S355JRH specifications. Each coil is assigned a unique heat number to ensure full material traceability throughout production.
Uncoiling & Leveling: Steel coils are loaded onto the uncoiler and fed through a precision leveling machine to flatten the strip, removing coil set and ensuring uniform flatness for consistent spiral forming.
Edge Milling & Trimming: Both longitudinal edges of the steel strip are milled and trimmed to precise width tolerance (±0.5mm). The edge preparation creates a clean, parallel surface essential for high-quality spiral weld formation.
Spiral Forming: The leveled strip is fed into a spiral forming machine at a controlled helix angle. The strip is continuously formed into a spiral cylindrical shape, with the edges aligned for welding.
Inner Submerged Arc Welding (SAW): The inner spiral seam is welded first using automatic submerged arc welding equipment with appropriate flux and wire combination.
Outer Submerged Arc Welding (SAW): The outer spiral seam is welded immediately after the inner weld, using automatic submerged arc welding equipment.
